The Spiddal Windmill Loop begins in Spiddal village and continues along the promenade in the direction of Galway city. Just beyond the end of the promenade you take a left turn at Baile Liam and begin to to walk uphill. As you progress up the road the full panorama of Galway bay comes into view. From the top of Baile Liam, turn right along Baile Ard. Take care to walk against the traffic on this main road, as there is no footpath and wearing a hi-vis is recommended. After approximately 500 meters you turn left onto a gravel road that takes you up to the windmills and the top of the mountain. The return journey descends down the same gravel road, back onto Baile Ard. However you have the option of taking the first left turn onto Baile an tSagairt as you return back to the village.
