Comhlacht Forbartha an Spidéil (CFAS) exists to make An Spidéal ‘Thrive By The Bay’ and work together to enhance our environment, our community and our future.  CFAS is a company limited by guarantee without share capital. It is a not-for-profit entity incorporated in the Republic of Ireland.  It is led by a voluntary board of directors supported by sub-groups working on a voluntary basis on proposals aimed at developing a community with a pride in its area, its local environment and in its artistic, cultural and linguistic heritage.  

The company has recently undergone a restructuring process and employed a new general manager tasked with implementing the new community centred structure with seven sub-groups: 

• Arts, Culture & Irish Language 

• Industry & Infrastructure 

• Tidy Towns 

• Tourism 

• Marketing 

• Playground  

Primarily funded by Údarás na Gaeltachta,the core values of CFAS are  

• To strengthen and enrich the Irish language in the community 

• To develop and improve infrastructure and facilities in the community 

Two people work in the office; A manager and a secretary working part time on a back to work scheme. The schemes also contribute tremendously in maintaining the village’s appearance and also are involved in various projects to make An Spidéal a better place to work and live. 

The CFAS facilities are located behind the Spiddal GTEIC and include a large room which is available to rent by the hour with an adjacent kitchenette and toilet facilities.
