This is an excellent loop walk close to Spiddal village that includes a small amount of uphill walking, but rewards those who make the effort with stunning views in return. Parking at the beach beside an céibh nua, the new harbour, begin walking back uphill towards the main road. Crossing the main road you continue straight up Bahoona. After about 1km there is a left turn, the road levels out and from this position on the hill you can enjoy panoramic views of Galway bay, the Burren, the Cliffs of Moher, the Aran islands, and the 12 Bens mountain range in Connemara. On a very clear day it is even possible to pick up the mountains in north Kerry. As you continue along this route the road turns downhill and back towards the main road. Once back on the main road turn left back towards the village and you will arrive once again at the turn for an céibh nua.
